EQUIPMENT FOR GRP PRODUCTION
(Glass Reinforced Polyester)

WHO ARE?

WOLFANGEL Gmbh
D-71254 Ditzingen
Germany

Some 40 plus years ago Rolf Wolfangel set up this company to manufacture and develop machines for processing polyester/glass fibre composite materials, using his own knowledge and engineering experience to simplify the operation and improve the reliability of such machines, to satisfy his frustrations about the inadequacies of other machines on the market.

Being a down-to-earth kind of man, and a perfectionist, he was soon offering improved machines, which required very little by way of spare parts and caused almost zero breakdown initiated losses of production.

Over the years further developments and new technologies have come along making this company the leading manufacturer of top quality machines and equipment for the Composites Industry.

Wolfangel have kept up-to-date not only with glass fibre but also with carbon and Kevlar fibres, etc., which offer materials with excellent characteristics for an ever-increasing field of applications. Examples are automobiles, railway rolling stock, ship and boat building, architecture, buildings, laboratories, leisure equipment, etc.

Wolfangel are a very competent partner in GRP and RTM technology and have a full range of exceptional accessories to back up the assistance they provide to their clients.

It is highly beneficial to engage with them, through us, at the early stages of your project.

To complement their endeavours we, ourselves, have wide experience in composites production and machinery so that we can provide an effective back up service and advice.

The equipment on offer includes:

  • Gel Coat Spraying Plant
  • Fibre Spraying Plant
  • Mat Impregnating Plant
  • Polyester Mixing Stations
  • RTM Plant
  • Lay-up and finishing tools

These are constantly being up-dated to effect improvements and to meet current legislation requirements.

In addition it is quite easy to modify the standard machines to accommodate the exact requirements of individual customers. More and more often there is a call to include automisation, integration with existing plant interfaces and specialised engineering. All such requirements are discussed with the customer to agree satisfactory solutions in advance.

Typical modified standard units for special requirements are illustrated below.

WOLFANGEL® 3-COMPONENT DOSING UNIT

This WOLFANGEL® unit was conceived for the vacuum infusion process, where, at the beginning of the process, a great amount of material is required. The capacity is 50 kg/minute. Resin, catalyst and accelerator (or inhibitor) are delivered by 3 material pumps. The particular advantage of this plant is that it does not require pre-accelerated resin. The reaction process of the resin system can be adjusted to an optimum by the temperatures of the environment and the possibilities of adjustment are increased compared to a pre-accelerated system. This concept can also be used for epoxy dosing units.

Further examples for application:

  • Impregnating bath supply for winding units
  • Polyester resin filling plants
  • RTM plants
  • Pultrusion plants

WOLFANGEL® 2-COMPONENT DOSING UNIT

This WOLFANGEL® unit was conceived for the processing of low viscosity fluid plastics. In this case, a PU glue had to be dosed for the glueing of stone tiles. The processing pressure is about 100 bar as the glue has to go through a 7.5 m long material hose before being delivered to the processing head with a capacity of 5 kg/min. Due to the short pot life, the material cannot be heated for the reduction of the viscosity.

Further examples for application:

  • Impregnating bath supply for winding units
  • Polyester resin filling plants
  • RTM plants
  • Pultrusion plants

WOLFANGEL® 2-COMPONENT DOSING UNIT WITH HYDRAULIC DRIVE

This WOLFANGEL® unit was conceived for feeding a press. The casting head is directed by a robot. The output can at any time be adjusted by a proportional valve. As oil is not compressible, this pump runs impulse-free even at low material pressures. The capacity of this unit is infinitely adjustable from 2 to 21 kg/minute. It is particularly suitable for integration into existing automated systems, where the delivery capacity has to be adjusted to a particular accuracy.

Further examples for application:

  • Endless production of tiles
  • Pultrusion units
  • Dosing heads directed by a robot
